A foam roller is a cylindrical tube of compressed foam. In this class, we’ll use 90 cm foam rollers for a variety of different Pilates exercises to improve strength and mobility. Foam rollers are fantastic to work with, and you will notice improvements in your shoulders, chest, stomach, back and hips after just a few sessions. Foam rollers are unique because they allow you to self-administer deep-tissue massage that helps relax the skin, the fascia and muscle tissue. This improves your circulation, releases waste and toxins from your muscles and helps you recover from exercise more quickly. Myofascia is the multi-layered connective tissue that stabilises and connects everything, and if you keep it elastic and well-hydrated, you will achieve a healthier, more mobile body. The class focuses on the stiff, ‘rusty’ areas of the body – where the myofascial network has gotten inflexible, stiff and dry. We alternate Pilates exercises with self-massage with the foam roller throughout the class. This gives the workout a great flow, and a lot of people quickly get addicted to this class, that gives you such a great energy boost.

The style of karate we work with in the class, Wado Ryo, is technically demanding and fast-paced. The training will focus on technique: learning to perform the style correctly.
Every session starts with a warm-up and stretches for the major muscle groups. Then we move on to an hour of karate followed by strength and flexibility exercises.
Instructor Peder Bøcher has over ten years of experience and has a second-degree black belt.
